There are three faithful friends, Benjamin Franklin once
said: an old dog, a ready money, and an old wife.
Surely there is wisdom on this observation. Our loyal and
faithful dog of 10 years, “Sugar,” is a very dear friend and companion. Her welcome
wag of the tail and wet kisses never
fail to provide us relief from stress. I personally look forward to her
presence especially after a hectic day in the work.
A ready money in the pocket or in the bank offers solution
to one’s financial needs. How does it feel to be penniless? Usually, loneliness
and insecurity creep in when we have nothing.
There is security in an old wife than in a newlywed. Who knows
what would happen after marriage? Would the couple live together happily ever
after?
But when a couple, after 60 years of marriage, still hold
hands and become “sweeter as the years go by,” their love is the real thing, their
friendship is everlasting.
