Why are friends important?


In a world gripped with uncertainty and materialism, we need somebody to lean on. And who would that person be but Jesus Christ, a true and loyal friend of yours and mine. The lyric “No man is an island,” aptly pictures our need for a friend as we live in this world.

The Holy Bible is replete with inspiring words about friends. Surrounded by friends in his lifetime, King Solomon shares with us this thoughts:
  • A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who stick closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24. 
  • Wound from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses. Proverbs 27:6.
  • Perfumes and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one’s friend springs from his earnest counsel. Proverbs 27:9.
How wonderful it is to have good and sincere friends! They make life more meaningful and enjoyable, like a bed of roses.
