You may have lots of friends. But they may be friends for the
wrong reasons. Some may just want to get advantage of you. Some may even betray
you. Listen to King Solomon’s declaration: “Wealth brings many friends, but a
poor man’s friend desert him. Many curry favor with a ruler, and everyone is
the friend of a man who gives gifts. A poor man is shunned by all his relative
how much more do his friends avoid him! Though he pursues them with pleading,
they are nowhere to be found” (Proverb 19:4, 6,7).
